Big Buddha Restaurant in Surprise offers a straightforward, full-service Chinese dining experience well-suited for locals seeking familiar, comforting flavors in a casual setting. Located on W Greenway Rd, the restaurant draws a steady crowd, especially around lunch hours, when its reasonably priced lunch specials see heightened activity. The space combines a modest, clean interior with a patio option, though many prefer to stay indoors, particularly during Arizona’s hotter afternoons.

The menu emphasizes classic American Chinese dishes with some thoughtful variations — sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, and chicken egg foo young routinely stand out as dependable choices for those wanting substantial, freshly prepared plates without straying too far from popular tastes. The lunch specials in particular deliver generous portions, making them a practical option for workday meals or family dinners. For diners with dietary preferences, options like soy-less fried rice and some gluten-free dishes add to its approachable appeal.

Service at Big Buddha tends to be friendly and attentive, helping the atmosphere feel welcoming without being rushed. It’s the kind of spot that suits casual lunches with coworkers or simple evening meals with family, rather than celebrations or late-night outings. Parking is ample nearby, which makes it convenient for neighborhood regulars dropping in for a reliable meal.

In terms of ambiance, the restaurant leans toward no-frills practicality, with enough charm to feel pleasant but not overly styled. Expect a practical dining room where the focus remains on the food and straightforward service. The patio seating can be an inviting option when temperatures are mild, offering a casual, open-air alternative to the indoor dining room.

Overall, Big Buddha Restaurant is best for those familiar with Chinese-American cuisine looking for a steady, comforting meal with dependable portion sizes and friendly neighborhood service. It’s a venue that feels most at home during lunch or early dinner on weekdays and weekends, catering well to families, couples, and anyone wanting a down-to-earth spot where food quality and value align well.

It was our first time at Big Buddha and everything everyone says good about it is true! Very very good food and friendly staff. I had the sesame chicken and my husband had the Mongolian Beef. Both were very good! We will be back!

This restaurant was better than I expected it to be! The food is pretty americanised but it is tasty. We came here on a Wed afternoon and it was packed! There is lots of parking in the area. They also have patio seating but I'm glad we sat inside because it was super hot outside during the afternoon. They have lunch specials which are total worth the price. We got the chicken egg foo young with egg drop soup lunch special and the schezwan string bean with pork and hot and sour soup lunch special. Every lunch special comes with fried rice, an egg roll and a crab puff. The egg rolls were very good. The crab puff was ok, we would have liked more crab stuffing. The soups were excellent. You won't go wrong with either choice. The fried rice was average. I have had better fried rice in other Chinese restaurants. The entrees themselves were very good. The chicken egg foo young is a Chinese omelet presented as a cutlet of chicken and egg, bean sprouts, slightly breaded and smothered in brown gravy sauce. The portion was big and I couldn't even finish one of the cutlets, so we took most of my entree home. The schezwan string bean and pork entree was delicious. Husband finished every last bit of it. For the price of around $12 per special, we were satisfied and delighted by the meal. The ambiance is pretty casual but the restaurant is nice. We definitely recommend checking them out if you are in the area.

My wife and I popped into Big Buddha for a Sunday lunch and left seriously impressed — this place delivers! The lunch specials are a total win: big portions, great value, and food that actually tastes freshly made (not just reheated takeout vibes ). We started with their sweet-and-sour soup, which was the perfect warm-up — tangy, a little spicy, and so comforting that I kind of wished it came in a bigger bowl. For mains, I went with the Mongolian Beef, and wow — tender beef, a rich sweet-savory sauce, and a bed of crispy noodles that added the perfect crunch. My wife ordered the Shrimp with Vegetables, and her plate was loaded with plump shrimp and colorful veggies swimming in a garlicky brown sauce that was seriously delicious. Each lunch combo came with rice and an egg roll — simple, classic, and just right. The service was quick and friendly, and the whole vibe was relaxed — a great little spot for an easy, satisfying meal. Pro tip: Go for the lunch specials — you’ll get a full spread without breaking the bank, and trust me, you won’t leave hungry!

Staff was very friendly and helpful 5/5 there. Food was good. I had the Orange Peel Chicken, Taiwanese Beef, and the Szechuan Fried Rice. Everything I had was good. I enjoyed the Orange Chicken the most. Coming from LA, I found the prices very affordable. This is a good spot with a friendly vibe.

This is our go-to to-go Chinese restaurant here in the West Valley, hands down. We have been going to this place since 2018 and it has never disappointed! We have yet to sit down for a meal, but they generally have your food ready within 15-20 minutes when placing your food order over the phone. I highly recommend calling them directly over using the online ordering as it features higher price on the website (Third party upcharge). Our favorite meal is the House Fried Rice which features Pork, Beef, Chicken and always at least two jumbo shrimps, you can't go wrong with it. Our kids (and myself too!) love the orange chicken as well which has such a tangy and delicious sauce which I drizzle over white rice! They are generous with their soy sauce and always have a crazy spicy mustard upon request!

I’ve been coming to Big Buddha for years, and they never disappoint. Started with the crab puffs, crispy and full of flavor. My go to orange chicken was perfect as always, and the Singapore rice noodles were spot on. The food is always fresh, and the service here is consistently great. Easily one of my favorite spots in Surprise!
